Agriculture & Sustainability

Nawiri Organics is a pioneering agribusiness enterprise dedicated to advancing Africa's green transition through sustainable food production and circular farming systems, transforming agriculture into a force for environmental renewal, economic resilience, and improved livelihoods.

Our work focuses on two core areas: organic biostimulant production and aggregation of African leafy vegetables (ALVs).

Vision

To be Africa's most trusted organic agriculture partner, nurturing nature, empowering communities, and sustaining the planet through responsible production and inclusive growth.

Mission

To promote sustainable agriculture that uplifts farmers, restores ecosystems, and strengthens food security through the production of organic biostimulants and the aggregation of African leafy vegetables.

Built From Experience

Nawiri Organics was founded from firsthand experience. As smallholder vegetable farmers, we lived the challenges of rising input costs, declining soil fertility, poor waste management, and limited market access. These pressures make farming increasingly unviable for millions of smallholders.

We built Nawiri Organics to solve these challenges at the system level—by connecting soil health, waste, and food markets into one circular model.

Our approach closes the loop between the communities we serve. We collect organic waste from smallholder farmers, households, and market vendors—the same ecosystem that consumes our products—and convert it into high-performance organic biostimulants. In parallel, we aggregate and distribute African leafy vegetables from smallholders back to vendors and households.

In Kenya alone, over 4 million tonnes of organic waste are sent to landfills annually, with 60% being agricultural waste, driving methane emissions and public waste costs.

By reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers, Nawiri lowers production costs while rebuilding soil health. Our biostimulant delivers up to 30% yield improvement and 38% cost reduction, creating measurable economic, environmental, and social returns—at scale.

Problems We're Solving

01

Soil Degradation & Declining Productivity

Over 40% of cropland in Africa is degraded due to unsustainable fertilizer practices, leading to declining yields per acre and rising production costs. This erosion of soil health directly undermines farmer productivity, biodiversity, and long-term food security.

02

Organic Waste & Climate Impact

In Kenya alone, over 4 million tonnes of organic waste end up in landfills annually, with 60% originating from agriculture. This waste emits methane gas, contributing to nearly 10% of harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

03

High Cost of Production

Africa's agriculture sector faces growing demand for affordable, sustainable farm inputs (9% CAGR). However, overreliance on imported synthetic fertilizers continues to inflate costs and weaken farmer profitability.

04

Post-Harvest Losses & Food Insecurity

More than 40% of agricultural produce is lost due to poor aggregation, fragmented markets, and inadequate handling. Urban households struggle to access affordable, nutritious foods—particularly African leafy vegetables.

Our Solution

Circular Waste-to-Input Model

Nawiri Organics converts locally available organic waste—sourced from smallholder farmers, households, and market vendors—into a high-quality organic biostimulant. This diverts waste from landfills, reduces emissions, restores soil health, and lowers logistics and production costs.

Aggregation & Distribution of African Leafy Vegetables

We aggregate African leafy vegetables from smallholder farmers and distribute them efficiently to urban households and vendors—reducing post-harvest losses while improving nutrition, food security, and farmer incomes.
